Section 3

1 The works, and the designs, and the purposes of God cannot be frustrated, neither can they come to naught.

2 For God doth not walk in crooked paths, neither doth he turn to the right hand nor to the left, neither doth he vary from that which he hath said, therefore his paths are straight, and his course is one eternal round.

The Number 6

NURTURE VS NATURE? OR A BIT OF BOTH?

Snowflakes have been a feature of our Christmases over the years with the girls, crafting out of toilet rolls. Last year I started reading about maths and the universe. In it, it described universal principles that can be found in the symbols of numbers and shapes. These numbers and shapes are also found in nature - along with the corresponding principle.

Snowflakes are natures manifestation of the number 6, not only being 6-sided, but also having the geometric shape of the hexagon - they represent the principles of order, structure and efficiency - the number 6 is also a construction number - a number that is seen in the fabric of creation.

Long-short, snowflakes will always be 6-sided. As water droplets fall in cold temperature, the water molecules bond to other water molecules in the most efficient way, dependant upon a number of environmental factors, like speed of fall, wind, temperature fluctuations, gravity's pull.... all these factors ensure that the snowflake in its creation will always become a unique product - hance no two snowflakes are alike. The way in which the water molecules bond together create the framework of each crystal, and they bond in the most efficient way possible given all the other variables around them.

I see a parallel in our lives/behaviors. Not one of us are the same. Not one of us fall and form in the same set of environmental circumstances. All are different. Yet all are the same - we still, all become "snowflakes". I guess we have the ability to control how we will react to our circumstances, unlike a snowflake that forms without consciousness.

The environment plays a role, but unlike examples in nature, the one difference is that we are intelligent, conscious beings, who can act for ourselves with a consciousness that does not exist anywhere else in nature or other living things. We can determine the beauty of snowflake we become.
